Alabama’s NFL Draft Legacy Rolls On
with headlines from Tide football, baseball, softball & tennis.

The 2025 NFL Draft is in the books, and once again, the Crimson Tide made a major impact. Several Alabama players heard their names called over the weekend, adding to a remarkable tradition of success that has become synonymous with Alabama Football. Most notably, Alabama extended its incredible streak to 17 consecutive seasons with at least one first-round pick—the longest active streak in college football history, and a true testament to the program’s ability to develop NFL-ready talent year after year.
This streak, which began back in 2009 with Andre Smith being selected sixth overall by the Cincinnati Bengals, has continued through the Nick Saban era and now into the Kalen DeBoer era. During these 17 seasons, Alabama has produced dozens of first-rounders, including household names like Julio Jones, Marcell Dareus, Amari Cooper, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Tua Tagovailoa, and Will Anderson Jr.

Andre Smith was the 6th overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft.
But Alabama's NFL Draft success isn't limited to recent history. Legends like Joe Namath (first overall pick in the 1965 AFL Draft) and Ozzie Newsome (1978 first-round pick) helped establish the Tide’s reputation for sending stars to the next level long before the modern dynasty took shape.
Today, Alabama stands proudly atop college football's draft legacy—leading the nation not only in first-round picks but also in total draft picks over the past 15 years. Whether it’s offensive linemen, defensive backs, receivers, or quarterbacks, the Crimson Tide continues to supply the NFL with elite talent, year after year.
In this edition, we’ll dive into the full breakdown of Alabama’s 2025 NFL Draft class and celebrate the newest group of Tide players taking the next step toward pro stardom.
